LabAutomation 2011, Palm Springs

This is a big week for me, I'm going to attend my first conference with my mom. We are at LabAutomation 2011 in Palm Springs. I didn't get to the exhibits or presentations, really just hung out in the hotel, went to the pool, and did some walking around outside. It was quite fun. Here I am enjoying the conference...

Grandma and grandpa

This week my grandma and grandpa came for a visit. They took good care of me, here you can see grandma doing my bath in my new tub (what a big production) and also getting me dried up and dressed in my ABC sleep sack...

Look closely at the top picture, didn't I tell you Big Brother is always watching!

Somehow grandpa escaped without getting in any photos this trip, I'll get him next time!

Big brother

I guess I'm going to have to get used to it, it appears "Big Brother is watching me!!" When I learn to read I'll have to get the book.

Daddy!

I've been fortunate to spend quite a bit of time with my dad lately. Here is just a simple pic of me a dad hanging out...


Actually, to be more precise since mom pretty much gets to do all the feeding here is out typical bonding time activity...

Burpppp! Although, I should mention dad is also great at changing diapers and doing bath time.

My ride

As you probably know the little girl is bound to get spoiled. Mom splurged on this one for me (or maybe her), and here I am going out for my first walk in my Orbit Baby. First, mom getting me locked and loaded...

My first bath

I did have a little "spa day" at the hospital when the nurses cleaned me up. Today I took my first bath at home. As with my big brother, this is typically dad's area of expertise and here he is giving me my first sponge bath...




Don't mind the look on my face here, I actually quite like it...

My BD celebration

I arrived home to quite a surprise, everyone was ready to celebrate. Here is my "birth" day cake, even with a zero candle...




And we all had some campaign for the special occasion also, my sip was delayed by a few hours as mom's digestive system did it's thing. Also, check out the clean break to open the bottle via my dad's newly discovered "sabering" technique. You can YouTube that to learn more.

For some taking a nap is not all that interesting, but to a 3 day old I thought warranted a seperate post. And if you click on the photo you should get a larger size image which I think is about half the resolution of the camera. So, yes, it even gets better than that.

My first few days... at Cottage Hospital

Well, I know I've been delinquent in getting some more blog postings up but I've been really busy eating and sleeping. Let me take you back to my first few days before I left the hospital. Here were my first visitors, I'm not sure I can tell who is the happiest...


It might have been Pati, she was very eager to hold me. I think my Tha Tha actually had to give up his holding time so Pati could have extra. In the coming few days she also coined the term "staring time." Every time I open an eye she was there staring at me. Here I am with a proud Pati...


I guess you can say I'm part of the new technology generation, here I am having a live Facetime session with my Aunt Anne...

If by any chance Apple wants to reimburse me for the free promo, please just make a deposit in my college fund. While I'm at it, the same applies to Cannon as all these photos were taken with a brand new EOS Rebel 2Ti that my dad purchased just for this occasion. From what he has told me, it is quite awesome and he has only scratched the surface of the users manual. I just wish he wouldn't point it at me and snap/flash so much. This is probably more impressive in full resolution, but here are some "scaled down for the blog" close-ups...

Well, everything was going great my first few days and I was ready to go home on Mon the 3rd. So we packed everything up and I jumped into my new car seat. It is quite a special seat, but more on that later. Here I am ready to go...

Arrived 1/1/11 at 18:41!

Hello, welcome to my blog. I'm baby Zofia Lakshmi and after much anticipation, I was delivered into this world on the auspicious date of 1/1/11 at 18:41. I was officially 5 days late, or 18 hours and 41 minutes too late for my parents to claim me on their 2010 taxes. I'll cost them many $1,000's of dollars anyway, so I figured why not start now. I weighed in at 8.00 lb and 20 1/4 inches, or 3.636kg and 51.4cm if you prefer those units. I should note, that I started out bigger than my big brother!

Here is my mom getting ready for the labor and that is nurse Sidney who really helped make things easy...

And here is one of my first pictures, basically as soon as I got my nose and mouth suctioned and set on the table. I was certainly ready to come out and immediately started crying to let everyone know I had arrived...


Right after that, I went right to mom to get back to some familiar surroundings and do some bonding...


My first visitor, aside from Dad who was snapping photo's and video the whole time, was my big brother. BTW, he has a blog at http://babytony4.blogspot.com/ (go back to the first post in 9/2006 to see when he was born). He held me and sang twinkle-twinkle to soothe me to sleep...

Well, stay tuned, I have plenty more photos and stories to share and will hopefully keep the posts going as I grow up. I just wanted to get a start here and give everybody a big "Hello!"
